16A - What's Your Secret Sauce

Why do I think that I have human capital that is truly unique? I can speak French. Speaking a foreign language helps in many cases and is marketable. I am a very empathetic person. I am very in tune with how others are feeling and like to make sure that they are okay.  I am an attentive listener. When someone is telling me something serious I make sure to listen and acknowledge what they are saying.  I am intuitive. This helps me to know what I should and shouldn't do.  I know a lot about very random things. This is just a fun thing because it makes conversation easy and smooth.  Why do my friends think that I have human capital? Sophie: She said that my film knowledge is something about me that sticks out. I always know about new movies and important details about the production. Lainey: She said that I have a very niche base when it comes to knowledge.  Jane: She said that I know a lot about many random and obscure topics. Tina: She said that I k...

15A - Figuring out Buyer Behavior

I found that everyone I interviewed said that they obtain information via google. They search for sustainable brands and go from there. Because of the nature of my product, they are not bound to something like a price-point seeing as this doesn't cost anything but time. Since the product that I am developing is an app, the question of payment is out of the question. The app would be free with ads, so my interviewees do not need to worry about how they would pay.

14A - Halfway Reflection

A skill that I had to develop for this course was timeliness. Making sure that I was planning ahead and working on assignments in a timely manner was the most important skill that I further developed for this course.  There were a couple of times when I felt like giving up and just not doing my assignments for the week. The main reason for this was stress or time mismanagement. But I pulled through and completed them to get a good grade. Whenever I felt like not doing the work I remembered that I need a good grade.  I would tell future students to work ahead and to think about the big picture. Don't think assignment to assignment, but instead think about what you are trying to achieve. By thinking about the end goal you are able to work easier and in a more productive manner.

12A - Buyer Behavior

I identified the eco-concious segment that exists in consumers. Many consumers have an unmet need to know more about what they consume, but with rampant green-washing and not knowing where specifically a product was made can be difficult. When I interviewed consumers that had this unmet need I found that they often search terms like sustainable, zero-waste, and ethical production. But they don't always buy directly from stores that are local with lots of information about production. according to them, this is what makes it hard to be truly zero-waste. The app would help them to fulfill their wishes to know where their items are coming from at all times.

11A - Idea Napkin No. 1

My name is Riley Harwood and I am a second-year production major. I speak fluent French and also know a Lott, probably too much, about the film industry. I plan to move out to LA after I graduate and try to get a job as a set dresser for film and television.  The idea is to offer consumers a way to know where and how their products are being manufactured. This would help to ensure that consumers are able to purchase ethically.  This is being offered to those concerned with both the environment and human rights.  They care because both are issues that directly impact them and others. What sets me apart is the fact that it would be free, with limited ads, and would definitely have a market in today's society.

10A - Elevator Pitch

9A - Testing the Hypothesis, Part 2

Who  Businesses that produce locally are mostly exempt as the consumer would already know where the product was made. Other businesses that are exempt would be local, sustainable businesses. What  This need differs because it meets a couple different needs. It meets both the need to know if the production was ethical and if the production was sustainable. Why

8A- Solving the Problem

The Opportunity: Many consumers want to know where and how their products were made.  An app that when you scan the barcode it comes back with where it was made and the working conditions of said place. It will also show you the environmental footprint of production and shipment. This way consumers know what they're buying and companies will be held accountable, hopefully causing change in production.
